Hey all!
Interesting news day...

FNMA 4.0% bond is about flat on the day and has been all day. Rate of 4.625% range should stick for the moment.

Dow is actually on a bounce today and up nearly 170 points. This is interesting to see following the weak economic data out this morning. News of the "semi-nationalization" of GM is also causing mixed reactions. Government is now offering to back the warranties of the company and the company unveiled a plan to "make the payments" for individuals who have lost their job. Both of these things are making GM stock look attractive. There is also a new CEO who promises to "get it done". Not sure what that means...but we will have to see.

Consumer Confidence report also came out (survey of 5000 consumers!) and is showing lower than expectation and lower than last month. This shows that people are still nervous out there...

DJIA 7,689.60 +167.58 NASDAQ 1,542.77 +40.97 SP500 805.90 +18.37

What is it? Chicago PMI... http://www.briefing.com/Investor/Public/Calendars/EconomicReleases/chi.htm

Chicago "Purchasing Managers Index" is thought to be a great indicator on where the manufacturing sector in the economy is heading. It surveys 200 purchasing managers for manufacturers in the Chicago area to decipher whether or not manufacturing is up, down or the same. It looks at new orders, delivery times by vendors to the manufacturer, inventories, prices paid and employment. The Chicago PMI is important only in that it provides the "closest" representation to the ISM index that is generally due out the day after this report. See the link above if you would like more info.

Tomorrow! We will see the ADP employment index, the ISM index and the Crude inventories report come out. These are market movers so it will be interesting to see the ripples as they are presented to the market.
