Hey All!
Yes: I am back in the saddle and OPEN for business! I have spent a considerable amount of time thinking about how I want my business to run going forward and I am EXCITED! What a difference a little perspective makes. Imagine being completely removed from your BUSINESS LIFE for three months. Yes, it has financial impact but thanks to some very important blessings my little family has done great.
The Survey I sent out was very good for me to see what your preferences are. It looks like the higher producers spend about 5-10 minutes looking at data to help them stay on top of the market daily. For ANYONE interested in quick daily info I will be posting DAILY updates at www.chadcan.com. You can subscribe to the blog and get a daily email just like I have been sending out when the posting is made. About 40% of you like the daily update.
To provide this informative service of the Market Insight without clogging your inbox: I am still going to write and send out a weekly issue. I will Send it on Tuesday as that is traditionally a "low spam" day for some reason. I am interested in helping more people so please feel free to refer people to www.chadcan.com or have them contact me to get on the weekly list.
Most of you see value of some form of 'perspective' in these reports and I think that comes in two ways. 1. market info 2. life info. I will try to keep it light on the life info as below.
QUICK NOTICE: I have a VERY INTERESTING program for people purchasing FNMA reposessed properties. See some and see what it is at www.homepath.com. Anyone else like low down payment, no mortgage insurance and a guaranteed 30 day closing on a purchase loan?
Market Perspective:
FNMA 4.5% bond is UP about 6 bps on the day at $100.28 today. News affecting that is the rumor that the feds are looking at changing some policy language and the possibility that the fed funds rate will be increased soon which is a sign of economic recovery. Good news=people want stocks to ride on. Bad news=people want bonds and "safe" investments.
There are some pretty convincing signs out there that an economic recovery is under way...even though the sting of unemployment and the fear factor has not subsided.
A survey released this morning showed that small business owners are very nervous. Some is likely due to the potential increase in operating expense with the health insurance requirement. As a result of fear there: they don't hire new people.
Corporations are also looking at cost cutting to make way for new expense according to one article and their focus on "efficiency" is sqeezing more work out of less people. Neither of these things are good for unemployment numbers.
Life PERSPECTIVE
Every one of us "runs" a business of some sort. It is the business of our household, the politics of our community or relationships and the business of our career or job.
Looking at small businesses in general: there are several "job positions" that need to be filled, EVEN if they are ALL filled by one person.
Think about your own life, how many "jobs" do you have? Think: taxi driver, secretary, crew-boss, coach, cook, bottle washer etc.
When I applied this theory of "multiplicity" to my mortgage business I came up with 6 positions that are active in the life cycle of a loan. They are: Mortgage Consultant, Sales Assistant, Marketing Coordinator, Transaction Coordinator, processor and underwriter. I was astounded at all the work that is done to market for and then process a loan file.
The good news: I have developed a service delivery process that will greatly enhance the experience to my clients while providing excellent consistency. It is simply the awareness of the different "positions" that allowed me to examine each one and how they were affecting my business. The goal: to be busy enough to have SIX of us as specialists in each position. For now, there are three of us specific to my team that will be working each file doing two "jobs". It is like an epiphany: create the job so that when I get busy enough I can fill that SPECIFIC job. I will be contacting a few of you to present the entire concept. I am really excited about it and would like to help you apply it in your business if you would like to explore that. Let me know if you are interested and have a great afternoon!
